✨ DIY Embroidered Cards: Hand Embroidery Made EASY! ✨
Make your handmade cards extra special with a touch of embroidery! It's easier than you think — no sewing machine required. Just you, a needle, and a little love. Full tutorial below. π
π§° What You’ll Need:
-
Embroidery needle (any small needle works, just not too thick!)
-
Embroidery thread or regular thread in fun colors
-
Pencil
-
Soft surface (like a folded towel or foam board)
-
Eraser (optional)
πͺ‘ Step-by-Step:
1. Draw Your Design
Lightly sketch a simple design on the front of your card — hearts, stars, flowers, or even someone’s name work great!
2. Poke Your Holes
Place your card on a soft surface and use a push pin to poke holes along the outline of your drawing (about 1/8" apart).
3. Thread Your Needle
Cut a piece of thread (about 18 inches long), thread your needle, and tie a knot at the end.
4. Start Stitching
From the inside of the card, bring the needle through the first hole and start sewing along the holes using a backstitch or straight stitch. Don’t worry about perfection — it’s handmade charm!
5. Finish and Secure
Once done, tie off the thread inside the card and tape or glue a piece of paper over it to hide the stitches and write your message.
π¨ Ideas to Try:
-
Outline a word like “Love” or “Hope”
-
Stitch a heart with different colors for a rainbow effect
-
Combine with watercolor or stickers for a mixed-media masterpiece!
π Pro Tips:
-
Keep it simple — small, clear designs are best.
-
Use contrasting thread colors to make your design pop!
-
Add your name or IG handle on the back if you're gifting it.
