A heart that turns into an envelope? Yes, please! This easy and adorable folding technique turns a simple heart cutout into a little envelope — a perfect addition to your handmade card, love note, or surprise message.
✂️ What You’ll Need:
-
Scissors (if you’re cutting your own heart)
-
A glue stick or double-sided tape (optional)
-
A little note or quote to tuck inside (optional)
𧑠Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Cut a Heart Shape
Start with a piece of paper and cut out a heart. You can fold a rectangle in half and cut half a heart to get a symmetrical shape. Use any kind of paper — plain, patterned, vintage book pages, or even watercolor paper.
✨ Tip: Want a template? Draw or trace a heart onto cardstock and reuse it again and again!
Step 2: Place the Heart Upside Down
Lay the heart flat on your surface with the point facing up and the rounded bumps at the bottom. It should look like an upside-down heart.
Step 3: Fold the Sides Inward
Fold the left and right sides of the heart inward so they slightly overlap in the middle. These will form the sides of your envelope.
Step 4: Fold the Bottom Up
Now fold the bottom bump (the top of the heart) upward to create the bottom flap of the envelope.
Step 5: Fold the Point Down
Lastly, fold the top point (which was the bottom of your heart) downward to close the envelope.
Step 6 (Optional): Add Glue or Tape
You can use a tiny bit of glue or a sticker to seal your envelope. Or leave it open if you're adding a small note inside.
π‘ Creative Uses:
-
Include a tiny quote, affirmation, or message
-
Add a pressed flower or confetti
-
Use it as a surprise inside your Love it Forward List card
-
Seal it with a heart-shaped sticker or washi tape
-
Use smaller hearts for micro-envelopes to glue inside journals or scrapbooks
π️ Why This Little Envelope Means So Much
Handmade envelopes from heart shapes add a personal and symbolic layer of care to your card. It shows the receiver that the love starts from the very first fold.
