Vitória, 26, has just lost her father, Marceu, to lung cancer. He was undergoing treatment but developed pneumonitis and didn’t respond to corticosteroids.
In the photo, Vitória is celebrating her 26th birthday alongside her parents — the last picture of the three of them together, taken just one month before his passing.
Marceu was an old-school journalist who worked for several major newspapers and magazines in Brazil. A samba lover and songwriter, he spent his later years as an editor for a well-known TV show. The show’s host described him perfectly:
“I’ve never met anyone who lived like Marceu Vieira — a life in a state of poetry. Now, he has become a poem.”
