In Remission & Writing Cards: Meet Alyssa, Our Newest Hero

Cards for Jameson

 Remember Alyssa?

The bright, beautiful 18-year-old athlete who was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year (read her original story here).

The cards you sent reached her right when she needed them most. Her mom wrote to tell me that on the hardest chemo days, opening each envelope made Alyssa’s whole face light up—like sunshine breaking through the clouds.

But Alyssa has never been the type to just receive love. Even while still in treatment, she kept asking, “Who else needs a card? I want to write to them.” And she did.

A few weeks ago she asked for Jameson’s address (read his story here) so she could send him encouragement. Then, over Thanksgiving, surrounded by family, she turned the tables completely: she organized her own little Love it Forward List session and got everyone writing cards together (photo above !).

And the very best part?
Alyssa is officially in remission and has just started college—a brand-new chapter filled with dreams, friends, and everything she fought so hard for.

Alyssa, you are pure magic. Thank you for letting us walk beside you… and for showing us all how to pay love forward, even on the toughest days.

Here’s to new beginnings—and to the incredible young woman who keeps reminding us that love always, always wins. πŸŽ‰πŸ’–
